Knooking uses similar motions as crocheting, and the hook and cording take the place of knitting needles. The resulting fabric structure is identical in look, feel, texture, and drape of a weft knitted fabric. In this intro class, students will learn to cast on, create the knit and purl stitches, and bind off. We’ll knit flat but will discuss knitting in the round and other techniques, as well as how to create your own knook tools, convert patterns, and other helpful tips.
Students should bring 100 yards of a solid-colored, medium worsted weight (4) yarn in a medium or light color. The recommended hook size for your yarn should be a I, J, or K (5.5 to 6.5mm) to work with the size J knook provided in class. Avoid yarn that splits easily, Magnification and battery operated task lighting if needed for close work, Scissors
